Although my work often takes me outside of Oklahoma, I am grateful for the projects I can work on close to home like this beautiful lake house in Grove. I was approached by the client to update the look and feel of the home and to “make it shine.” Sometimes larger homes can feel spread out and its family members scattered, so the goal was to make everything feel warm, cozy, and almost quaint.

With this direction, we looked for artwork, furnishings, lighting, and accessories that brought the right mix of transitional, yet modern elements. Given the proximity to the lake, we also implemented some rustic and natural pieces, like the twig chandelier in white finish, as well as artwork that complemented the gorgeous woodwork within the home.
As we try to do in so many of our projects, we love incorporating diverse textures, so as to create dimension and comfort. We don’t want things to feel too “matchy, matchy,” but rather to bring in both the stylistic choices that reflect our clients, while bringing in color in a strategic and nuanced way through wall decor, linens, and other accessories.

We had the most fun with the art and wall decor. We brought in some modern pieces, as well as some figurative paintings of water and natural elements. Lighting was chosen to accent the art in beautiful ways, no matter the time of day. The openness of the home, with all the natural lighting and big windows help to create a connection to the outdoors.

I am thankful for projects like these that allow me to get creative within the frameworks of an existing structure and space. I love each and every one of my clients and the talented crew that helps me. If you have home that you would like to update in this manner, with a refreshing of layout, furnishings, and other pieces, we’re here to help. Call us for a consultation.
